Subject: Hello?
Gee, been kind of quiet on this list of late, hasn't it? Activity on the
muck seems to have stabilized on a low level too. Whenever I get on and do
a "laston #watchfor" I usually see three or four who have connected "Today"
- and it's the same three or four fanatics (?) too...
Things are happening though. According to a sign in the park we've got a
website now. After snooping around on mudservices.com I finally thought of
checking the MOTD. (Boy, am I glad lions can't blush! <g>)
Some observations about the site:
Oh. Biiiig front page. Nothing on it but a logo in the middle and an icon
in each corner (which I had to scroll around to see all of) though. Plenty
of white space. Graphics a bit on the big side too (but nice design).
Sub pages go a bit far in the opposite direction. Line breaks are hard-coded
(someone's not planning to edit these texts in the future?) to make sure the
text fills just half the screen. There are easier ways of doing that...
Registration form. Same as Furry's, right? I guessed that because the layout
that may look OK on the world's two most used browsers gets screwed up the
same way on mine (which can't process that kind of form anyway, so when I
joined Furry - half a year ago last Saturday btw - I finally had to resort
to email registration after waiting a day or two for a response to filling
in the web form.).
Other things... Something weird happened on SpinDizzy a while back. The
usual gang were hanging around in the Rose Garden ("park" on other, less
innovative mucks <g>) when some of us started receiiving the kind of message
you get when successfully robbing someone. Only... whatever or whoever was
behind the messages was using an *old* currency unit that had been changed
three or four days back! As soon as someone pointed this out, the messages
started using the new unit... Not as mysterious a it seemed - as soon as we
started asking each other and found out that we were all receiving exactly
the same messages, it didn't take long to figure out that there had to be
a (dark?) zombie named You in the area posing the messages in second person.
Well, there's a simple way to prevent that kind of thing, and next time I
logged on Furry I decided to check if they had taken that precaution there.
They have. On Furry, "You" is the name of an undefined character that hasn't
been in use for years. Obviously a protected name holder that's been set up
to prevent that kind of prank... I haven't checked if there's a "You" on FL
yet, but if not it seems like a good idea...

We'll be right back after these messages.
